Welcome! This blog space was established in April 2007. The archives only go back to April 2011, so let me explain.
In April 2007, this blog started out with the name “Cache Crazy” over on Blogspot, where I blogged about all of my Geocaching adventures and then some. “Cache Crazy” was just the first thing that came to mind when I started the blog, and I needed to put something in that box to let me get to the next stage of setting up my first honest shot at a blog. Eventually, I changed the name to “Muggles Don’t Scare Me!”, a name I came up with as my first geocache ever placed (in a high muggle area). I also eventually changed my geocaching name to mugglesdontscareme.
Once I switched the name, I was ready for more changes. I also wanted more control over how content looked, where it went and how people navigated through my space on the Web. I switched to WordPress, and never looked back. But the content wasn’t as focused as it once was – because it seemed I would only blog when I geocached, and depending on what phase I was in at the time the blog could go a long time without a post. So I started posting about other random things, and that’s not what I wanted this space to be about.
In 2011, I tore it all apart, put it back together and ended up eliminating most of the first posts that got this blog started. There are a couple of posts that I know were useful for people so I’ll eventually bring those back. And I hope to create more useful content along the way so as not to be just another voice in a sea of noise on the internet. In the end, this will always be, as it always has been, a project in the works.
The thing that’s different now than when this blog first started is the outdoor world has become my friend so I’ve expanded my hobbies into a range of outdoor activities including but never limited to geocaching, camping, running, fishing, as well as other adventures I can squeeze in (scuba diving!). As such, I’ve also been able to expand what I’m posting about here and will hopefully appeal to a wider audience, although I don’t think I could ever let go of my geocaching roots.
