Off they go!
I have officially entered the HooHaa Travel Bug Race for 2010. Meet my racer – Snitch. He began as a KSU keychain at the bookstore, but I bought him up and made him into a travel bug so he can hop all over his opponents!
Snitch got his name from the Harry Potter game of Quidditch. Because my geocaching name is mugglesdontscareme (which is of course borrowed from geocaching – muggles, also borrowed from the Harry Potter stories), I wanted something that followed the Harry Potter theme and also (hopefully) serve as an indicator of how my travel bug should perform in the race. The Golden Snitch is very fast and attempts to avoid capture. That’s the goal for my bug in this race 
As an “entry fee” to be able to enter the race, each cacher was required to submit an unactivated traveler. I’ve had some issues with this. I wanted something cute and sort of unique so I ordered a Cachekinz tag from Groundspeak. However, it was shipped to me Dec. 14 and I have yet to receive it. I had it shipped priority mail so I really did not expect this to take so long — even with the holidays. It has been sitting in the Warrendale, PA sorting facility since December 22. I am so not OK with this. As soon as it gets here, I will have it mailed to P.J., our race host.
The race was supposed to have started today, Jan. 1. However, with some committed bugs still missing and because of weather stuff, it looks like the race is going to be postponed. Watch the HooHaa TB Race page for updates. And good luck to all of us racers!

I believe the Golden Snitch flies fast and avoids capture. I’m fairly sure a Green Snitch hops around on the ground and get’s squished. Just saying….
All I can do is laugh at this…I’m in tears I’m laughing so hard. LOL!

Henry Dukcy Thoreau, being the spiritual ducky that he is, has withdrawn from the race. He just couldn’t bring himself to compete against the other cute little animals.
Team-Ducky respects his decision and applauds his self-awareness.
Team-Ducky has created a replacement racer.
(We are sure this new ducky will have the proper “competitive spirit” and has the required skills to kick the butts of the rest of the racers.)
