Day 1: Ohio to Arizona

Arrived in> Gahanna, Ohio
Time Arrived> 12:50 pm
Distance> 179 miles

What a day! I woke up at 8 a.m., showered and threw the last of my things into a bag so I could get on the road. I managed to forget to make myself breakfast before I left so I grabbed some French toast sticks from Burger King while I called my aunt and uncle to let them know I was on my way.

Shortly after informing my uncle I was on the road, my aunt calls me back to inform me that we’re all going to Comfest as soon as I arrive. It was a long drive with lots of traffic (I suppose I should get used to that, huh?) and as soon as I arrived, I had just enough time to change clothes for the festival. My aunt and I checked out all the vendors while my uncle got his beer. Then we sat down and watched lots of topless females (who probably shouldn’t have been topless…ew) walk past, listened to the band and smelled (read: smelled NOT smoked) lots of reefer. Really though, it was a good time, and we were in the shade so the sun didn’t really bother us.

We left Comfest, came back to the house, changed clothes again and went to a friend’s house for a going away party. My aunt and uncle’s friends were hosting a German exchange student who is leaving July 6 to go back home. Some of the friends he has made here will be traveling to Germany to see him in December.

Anyway, the party was fun, the cake was good and now I’m sitting here trying to get my pocket queries together for the road trip. I also need to get music figured out, the camera emptied out (so I’ll have lots of room for pictures to post!) and I just made reservations for my camping trip at Mount Rushmore!

I’ll be heading to Dayton in the early morning to meet up with ErikaJean. As I’ve been saying, our luck with internet may vary while on the road. I’ll try to update the blog along the way, but starting tomorrow you may not hear from me until Tuesday night when we get in town and I get into my hotel. Fair warning. Until then, you can find me on Twitter!
